LABOUR POLICIES ( CALLANGHAN'S BUDGET)
- increase value of social security & child benefits
- increased pensions
- prescription charges abolished
- minimum income revised
- free vote on dealth penalty
- laws limiting trade union liabilty for economic loss caused by strikes
- protection for tenants from exploiting land lords
WHY WILSON DIDN'T DEVALUATE
- prices of goods would increase and the blame would be on Labour
- imports would be expensive causing inflation
- commonwealth held £ so would be betrayal
- blow against Britiain's prestige
- should have because this would happen again about at this point he would have been able to blame it on the Tories
