C3 Structure and bonding
The difference between a covalent bond and an ionic bond
Ionic bonding is when electrons are transferred but covalent bonding is when electrons are shared.
What is a giant structure?
A giant structure is ionic bonds between charged particles held by electrostatic forces. They have high melting and boiling points because a lot of energy is needed to break these bonds.
Why can solutions of or molten ionic compounds conduct electricity?
The particles can move freely and carry charge, but when solid, the particles can't move since they're held in a fixed position.
What is a giant covalent structure and what are their properties?
A giant covalent structure is many atoms held by a network of bonds.…
