Acids and Bases
Acids and bases are the opposite of each other
When reacted with each other they neutralise. The reaction is called neutralisation and is exothermic.
Acids
Examples: nitric, hydrochloric, sulfuric
Bases
These are metal hydroxides and metal oxides
Examples: iron oxide, copper oxide
Sometimes can dissolve in water. These bases are called alkalis.
pH scale
Use universal indicator to relate the solution to the pH scale as you can match the colour
