A pollutant is a harmful substance emitted into the environment that contaminates the environment or atmosphere.

Examples of Pollutants:

·         Carbon Dioxide

·         Carbon Monoxide

·         Carbon Particulates (soot)

·         Nitrogen Oxide

·         Sulphur Dioxide

Composition of the Atmosphere:

Nitrogen (78%)

Oxygen (21%)

Other Gases, Argon, Carbon Dioxide (make up 1%)
