BL is a highly aggressive lymphoma, doubling in size every 18-24 hours
composed of monomorphic sized B cells
B Cell markers are CD19, CD20, CD22
Flow cytometry used to analyse cells
Translocation of c-Myc
present in all case of BLtranslocates from band 124 from chromsome 8 to either:
- immunoglobin heavy chain region on chromsome 14
- iG kappa light chain on chrim 2p12
- ig lambda light
Myc becomes under the influence of gene promoters which drive cells through repetitive cell cycles
