Brain plasticity theory

Sleep aids the brain process such as memory consolidation (storing things in LTM) recquiring changed in the brain.
Plasticity = neurons in the brain constantly rearranging themselves. New neurons create new info pathways by altering old connections. Sleep = synaptic collections being strengthened or elminated
The brain can do this whilst asleep because it's not dealing with other external stimuli
