  • Attachment = Strong & reciprocal bond between infant & caregiver.
  • Attachment behaviours = proximity seeking, seperation distress & general orientation toward specific individual.
  • Maternal Deprivation Hypothesis = The focus is on  continuous relationship with infant & caregiver - an interruption of the relationship can lead to instability. Development of this relationship must occur during "critical period" (first 12 months).
