Biology Unit 1: Nervous System and Hormones

HideShow resource information

Nervous System

Internal Control

-The nervous system enables humans to react to their surroundings and coordinate their behaviour.

- Information from receptors pass along cells called neurones in nerves to the brain.

- Nerver impulses are electrical signals.

Steps                    Reflexs are the same but go to a relay neurone not CNS (quicker).

1. Stimuli

2. Receptor

3. Sensory neurone

4. Central nervous system

5. Motor neurone

6. Effector

Synapse

When an impulse reaches the end one of the neurones, it causes a chemical to be released called a neuronetransmitter which defuses across the gap and stimulates the impulse to continue in the next neurone

Reflex
