Biology B1:

Alleles are different versions of a gene. They can be dominant or recessive.

Genes are sections of DNA in chromosomes. They are inside the nucleus in the cell. Genes carry information needed for development in the body and they issue instructions to cells to make proteins.

XX chromosomes = a girl.
XY chromosomes = a boy.
