IMMUNITY
Innate - non specific:
- not specific for a particular antigen
- no memory
- effective against many different microbes
- instantaneous
- occurs outside the cell
Comprised of:
- physical barriers - skin, mucosal membranes, tears
- phagocytic cells - if physical barriers penetrated then neutrophils engulf them
