Ecology

• Habitat - the place where an organism lives
• In an ecosystem, animals compete for territory, food, water, and mates
• Abiotic factors are non-living factors (carbon dioxide level, light intensity, temperature) and biotic factors are living factors (competition and availability of food)
  Functional adaptations are things that go on inside the body that can be related to processes like reproduction and metabolism

Food Chains

• Food chains always start with a producer
• If a predator's prey becomes more common in an ecosystem, the population of the predator will have decreased
