Investigating Distribution and Abundance
the abundance of an organism is how many individuals you find in an area
abundance can be estimated by counting the number of individuals in samples taken, these resulst then need scaling up for the total area
the distribution of an organism is where an organism is found in a habitat
you can study the distribution by:
measure how common an organism is in two sample areas using quadrats and compare them or
study how the distribution changes across an area e.g. by placing quadrats across a transect
sampling methods
