This chapter is about living organisms forming communities within ecosytems which means energy and elemnts are transferred and recyled respectably. Ecology is study of inter-relationships between organisms and their environment. Environment includes both non-living (ABIOTIC) and living (BIOTIC) components. Ecosystems Made up of all biotic and abiotic features in specific area. Ecosystems have 2 major process's: 1) flow of energy through system 2) cycling of elements within system Example of an ecosystem is a freshwater lake, has its own community (plants), nutrients are recyled (nitrates), little or no gain/loss between other ecosystem.
