Reducing Sugars:
Add Benedict's reagent to sample and heat it. Coloured precipitate forms.
Non-Reducing Sugars:
Break down into monosaccharides. Add acid and boil. Neutralise with Sodium Hydrogen carbonate carry out Benedict's test. To check its a non reducing sugar present test for reducing sugars as well.
Starch:
Add Iodide solution turns blue/black if present.
