Biuret test for proteins

  • Sodium Hydroxide added to the test solution
  • Add copper (II) sulfate.

If protein is present solution turns purple. If not it will remain blue.

The Benedict's test for sugars

Add benedict's reagent (blue) to the solution and heat it. If it is present it will form a coloured precipitate.
