Bowlby suggested that if you had secure attachments in childhood then this would mean that in adulthood your relationships would be more loving and caring. Therefore a strong childhood relationship with your primary care giver was beneficial to future psychological and relationship stability.
This was extended by Hazan and Shaver in the in the continuity hypothesis. They took Bowlby’s internal working model and applied it to love and psychological wellbeing in adulthood.
