Behaviourist Theory

The behaviourist theory states that all phobias are learnt. In other words, phobias are conditioned. Phobias start because of classical conditioning and are maintained by operant conditioning. 

When a neutral stimulus is paired with an unconditioned stimulus - one that already evokes an unconditioned response (always intense fear) - you start
