Behavioural Approach to Psychopathology - Assumptions:
- All behaviour is learnt through experience and abnormal behaviour is no different to normal behaviour. We can use the principles of Classical Conditioning and Operant Conditioning to explain all behaviour and this includes abnormal behaviour.
Classical Conditioning - Learning by Association:
This could be used to explain phobias by the association of a neutral stimulus (spider) with a frightning experience (a spider landing on your face after it has been thrown at you)
