Behaviourist theory

This theory suggests that some behavior will be repeated by the child if it is rewarded. Praising a child for good behavior means they will be more likely to carry on behaving well. This is called positive reinforcement - the child is being rewarded with the adult's time and interest. Ignoring bad behavior means that the child will be less likely to behave that way again. The attention of an adult that often results from displays of bad behavior
