Baddeley's study (1966)

Aim:  To investigate encoding in the short term memory store.

Method:  Study consisted of 72 male and female participants. 

               He had four conditions where participants were given lists of                           words that were:

• acoustically similar (e.g. cat, mat...)

• acoustically different (e.g. pen, cow...)

• semantically similar (e.g. boat, ship...)

• semantically…
