Skeleton and bones

Function of a skeleton:

  • movement
  • stores minerals 
  • protects organs
  • support 

Skeleton is made up of of living cells such as bone and cartilage.Cartilage covers the end of a bone to reduce friction.

Ball and socket allow movement in many ways. HInge joint only allow movement in one place.

Joints are held together by ligaments, these have a high tensil strength but also slightly elastic to allow movement
