GOOD AND EVIL
Where does Evil come from, what is it?
most Xians would say that Evil comes from the Devil, and he is a personification of Evil. he is a force of evil that goes against everything God represents.
Evil could also be 1. A force 2. A phsycological phenomenon 3. just an absence of good
however less likely absence of good as it is so powerful.
Devil is jealous of humans, tempts humans to go their own way = better than god's.
St Paul : "your enemy walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour"
he's on about the Devil.
THE DEVIL IN THE STORY OF JOB
BOOK of Job
EVIL ENTERED THE WORLD THROUGH THE FALL OF ADAM
Fall of mankind is when man turned away from God, and its when Evil and sin entered the world. Adam/Eve used free will and chose to disobey God. the Devil was the Serpent.
Original sin is the mainly Catholic idea that all humanity shares in Adam/Eves sin.
Xians explain good and evil with THEODICIES
Iraneus said that Evil and suffering are in the world in order for humans to develop and use their free will, which is much healthier for us. God designed Evil in the world, evil is important because 1. we learn from our mistakes 2. we are thankful, the world needs evil in order for there to be good.
