Photosynthesis uses energy from sun to change CO2 and water into glucose and oxygen.
Takes place in chloroplasts in plant cells, contains pigments like chlorophyll that absorb light energy.
6CO2 + 6H2O --> (light energy and chlorophyll) C6H12O6 + 6O2
First light energy used to split water into oxygen gas and hydrogen ions.
Carbon dioxide gas combines with hydrogen ions to make glucose and water.
Water is not a product because more is used up in first stage than made in second stage.
