B4 - Photosynthesis

PHOTOSYNTHESIS - is a series of chemical reactions thst uses energy from sunlight to produce food.

- the food it produces is glucose - a sugar

- photosynthesis happens in

• the cells in green parts of plants, like leaf cells
• some microorganisms, like phytoplankton

- chlorophyll is needed for photosynthesis to occur. Its a green substance which absorbs sunlight and allows energy to be used to convert carbon dioxide and water into glucose.
