tissues= group of cells with similia\r structure and function working together. (muscular tissue)
organs= group of tissues working together (stomach)                                                                        organ system: organs working together.

--> stomach: muscular tissue to churn the food and digestive juices together

- glandular tissue, produces the digestive juices that break down food

- epithelial tissue which covers the inside and outside of the organ.

Pancreas: 2 main function: releases hormones to control blood sugar levels, and enzymes that help digest food.

                                                        THE DIGESTIVE SYSTEM

  • PANCREAS AND SALIVARY GLANDS: where the digestive juices containing enzymes are released to break down food. insoluble - soluble.
  • Stomach and small intestine are the main organs where food is digested.
  • Small intestine: where the soluble food molecules are absorbed into your blood. (VERY LARGE SURFACE AREA due to many villi). (short diffusion paths to blood vessels)
