tissues= group of cells with similia\r structure and function working together. (muscular tissue)
organs= group of tissues working together (stomach) organ system: organs working together.
--> stomach: muscular tissue to churn the food and digestive juices together
- glandular tissue, produces the digestive juices that break down food
- epithelial tissue which covers the inside and outside of the organ.
Pancreas: 2 main function: releases hormones to control blood sugar levels, and enzymes that help digest food.
THE DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
- PANCREAS AND SALIVARY GLANDS: where the digestive juices containing enzymes are released to break down food. insoluble - soluble.
- Stomach and small intestine are the main organs where food is digested.
- Small intestine: where the soluble food molecules are absorbed into your blood. (VERY LARGE SURFACE AREA due to many villi). (short diffusion paths to blood vessels)
