B2 - Pyramids of Biomass

Each bar on a pyramid of biomass shows the mass of living material at that stage of the food chain. This basically means how much all of the organisms weigh if you put them all together.

The bottom bar of the pyramid is always the producer of the food chain, so for example, a pear tree, or an area of grass. The thing that consumes the producer goes next, and so on.
