The Circulatory System

The Circulatory System carries oxygen and glucose in the blood to all of the body's cells so that the energy can be realeased through Aerobic Respiration

  • The heart relaxes to fill with blood.
  • The heart contracts to squeeze the blood out into the arteries.

When the heart contracts, the blood is put under pressure and is sent into the arteries. This ensures that the blood reaches all parts of the body supplying cells with glucose and oxygen for respiration. This surge of blood is the heart beat or pulse. Blood in the arteries is always under pressure.
