B1 - Genes and Chromosomes (BASIC FACTS)

Most cells in the human body have a nucleus, in which all of the DNA is stored.

Chromosomes come in pairs; humans have 23 pairs, and 46 individual chromosomes.

These chromosomes carry genes, which decide what characteristics we have (for example eye colour).
