Rules about Atoms

  • Atoms ALWAYS have the same number of protons and electrons
  • Atoms increase in size as the proton number increases and this determines their position in the peridic table,
  • An Atoms mass is calculated by adding the number of protons and neutrons.

Why do Atoms always have the same number of Protons and Electrons?

An Atom will always have the same number of electrons and protons because the charge of a proton is 1+ and the charge of an electron is 1- therefore keeping the same number balences them
