Jurors – Selection:

·         Randomly selected from electoral  role

·         CJSB sends out summons with date and time to attend

·         Failure to attend / unfit (drink/drugs) / no reply > prosecution / fine

·        Jury that will serve is chosen by random ballot by clerk of court

·        Court official chooses at random

·        15 then narrowed to 12

Jurors – Qualification:

·        18 – 70 years old (raised to 75 in 2013)

·        On the electoral register

·        UK resident for 5+ years since the age of 13

Jurors – Eligibility:

              Disqualifications – CJA of 2003:

·        Must not be on bail for a criminal offence

·        Never convicted of a serious offence for ‘’life’’

·        Never convicted of a serious offence – public protection

·        Never served…
