Types of flow-Flow is subject to two main forces: GRAVITY (causes downstream flow) and FRICTIONAL RESISTANCE (with the bed and bank, opposing flow downstream). The volume of water within a channel and the shape of the channel affects the amount of energy a river has to move water and sediment. The type of flow in a river will affect the types of landforms produced by that river.
