Gas exchange in leaves

Photosynthesis:

CO2 + H2O (+ light and chlorophyll) --> O2 + C6H12O6

Respiration:

O2 + C6H12O6 --> CO2 + H20

 

The volumes of gases exchanged within a plant change as rates of photosynthesis and respiration change:
