A wave transfers enrgy without transferreing matter there are two types of progressive waves:

• Transverse Waves  

A type of progressive wave that osscilates peripendiculary to the direction of movement of energy. They form with crests and troughs. 

        e.g: Electromagentic spectrum waves and water waves 

• Longitudinal Waves
