Thomas and Warner argue for colonies of Britons who began arriving in Ireland in the 4th century. Likewise colonies of Scotti established themselves in Britain eg Cornwall and Wales.


Trade between Ireland, Britain and the Continent is evidenced by archaeological finds of coins, wine-jars etc. Warner believes navigation was possible along river estuaries like the Shannon


Capture of British slaves would certainly have exposed the Irish to British culture including Christianity.


James Kenney believes that certain scholars from the continent (literati) and brought their learning possibly to Cork. This is attested to by a 12th century document
