Approaches to the value of life - Humanism

When considering the value of life, we should take 3 approaches: 

an instrumental approach, a value system approach, and an intrinsic value approach. 

The instrumental approach relates to utilitarianism, which relates to usefulness. 

It is a consequentalist approach to life, which focuses on the outcomes of all actions of all people. 

They ask, do the actions promote happiness? Do they generate happiness for others or only you?

and do the actions creat a greater balance of good over evil?

in this approach, all actions should be channeled towards outcomes which offer the greatest happiness for the greatest number of people.
