Bacteria can evolve and become Antio-Biotic Resistant!
- Bacteria sometimes develop random mutations in their DNA
- This can lead to changes in bacteria's characteristics
- Which can lead to anti-biotic resistant strains forming as a gene for AR becomes more common in population
Bacteria are rapid at reproducing and can therefore evolve quite quickly.
If the Bacterium is able to resist anti-biotics it can survive for longer and reproduces many more times. This increases the population size of the anti-biotic resistant strain.
These strains are an issue for people who become infected with these bacteria as they can't be immmune…
