ANOREXIA: a mental health condition in which a person tries to keep their weight as low as possible.
CAUSES:
- environmental- puberty, hormonal changes and low self-esteem
- psychological- tendency towards depression and anxiety
- biological- family history of anorexia
SYMPTOMS:
- lies about what they have eaten
- obsessively count calories
- take appetite supplements; diet pills
- fatigue
- headaches
- problems sleeping
- miss meals- eats very little, no fatty food
- makes themselves vomit
P.I.E.S.F
PHYSICAL:
- dry skin
- brittle fingers
- frail appearance
- dry or chapped lips
- headaches
- poor circulation
- bruise easily
INTELLECTUAL:
- fatigue and lack of nutrition would make them unable to concentrate on school/ work
EMOTIONAL:
- feelings of failure and anxiety because of weight gain
- depression- severe mental disorder, low self-esteem due to body dissatisfaction and poor body image.
SOCIAL:
- isolated and socially inhibited.
- lack of energy from lack of nutrition- can't socialise
