Anglo German Naval Rivalry

Britain launched the first dreadnought in 1906. Dreadnought literally means fear nothing or fearless. This new battleship was faster and had longer range guns compared to the old ship. The older ships were referred to as funf minuten by the Germans because it was predicted that they would last around five minutes against a normal ship. Britains advantage over other navies had been reduced by the launch of the dreadnought. The power of navies now depended on how many dreadnoughts you had. Some countries imitated the dreadnought. Germany felt it could challange Britain at sea if it could build
