Lesson 1
-The unit begins with life in England under the Anglo-Saxon king, King Edward the Confessor.
- England didn't consist of 1 country, it consisted of 7 kingdoms: Northumbria, Wessex, Mercia, Essex, Sussex, Kent.
- From 793AD, Anglo-Saxons faced attacks from the vikings of Scandinavia.
-The vikings territory became known as the Damelow. It compromised the North-West, North-East and the East of England. Here, people would be subject to Danish law. Alfred was king of the rest.

Anglo-Saxons : People who settled in England after the Romans left Britain.
