Melody:

  • There are four main motifs, these are 'for the mouth of the lord hath spoken it'(D), 'and all flesh shall see it together'(C), 'and the glory of the lord'(A) and 'shall be revealed'(B). There are four different voices that sing these at different times throughout the piece. These are: soprano, alto, tenor and bass. The first entry (and the glory of the lord) is sung by the altos. 

Instrumentation:

  • As well as four voices, the organ and cello play the continuo throughout the piece. to acompany the voices, there is also a string section.
