Giving a blood sample
1. Blood is usually obtained from veins at the elbow
2. A band is placed around the upper arm
3. The band stops blood from leaving the veins making them more pronounced
4. The surface of the skin is cleaned
5. A hypodermic needle is inserted into the vein
6. A syringe (or sometimes a low pressure bottle) is attached to the needle and blood is withdrawn
7. The blood is transferred to a bottle which is then sealed
