Digital and Analogue Signals
Information (e.g. sounds and pictures) is converted into electrical signals before it can be transmitted
It's sent down telephone wires or carried on electromagnetic waves
Analogue signals:
- The amplitude and frequency can vary continuously
- Dimmer switches, thermometers, speedometers and old fashioned watches are all anologue devices
Digital signals:
- They are coded pulses that can only take two values, on or off
