The Haber Process

  • Reversible reaction between Nitrogen and Hydrogen to form Ammonia
  • Can be used to make nitrogenous fertilisers that promote plant growth
  • Eutrophication is when fertlisers that are overused pollute rivers and lakes, causing an overgrowth of algae. This overgrowth prevents sunlight from reaching other water plants, thereby ensuring that eventually, the water will become lifeless

Ammonia

  • NH3
  • A compound of Nitrogen and Hydrogen
  • A colourless gas
