first four alcohols are

properties:

first four alcohols dissolve in water to form neutral solutions

react with sodium-product is hydrogen

can be oxidised to form carboxylic acids

uses:

alcoholic drinks-

ethanols is used

ethanol not as toxic

still damages liver + brain

solvents-

alcohols can dissolve substances that water cant dissolve

ethanol is a solvent for perfumes+lotions

can mix with oil(gives smell) and water(gives bulk)

methylated spirit is ethanol with chemicals

used to clean pain brushes and is a fuel
