UK's population is ageing
- In 2005 16% of the population were over 65 and this is to increase to 25% by 2041
- People are living longer due to medical advances and improvements in living standards
- Baby booms in 1940's and 60's led to a pensioner boom now
- Birth rate falling so fewer young people compared to old people
