MEDIA:

• Griffin: sterotypes youth into being; disfunctional and suffering a defecit also deviant, moral panic and socially constructed 
• Sontag: double standards of ageing on TV for women and men
• Carrington and Schmigian: old people are less likely to be portrayed in the media, desceptions of old people e.g. smelly 
• Saunders: conspcious consumption, middle age buy things to define their identites

EDUCATION:

• Sewell: afro caribbean boys were an anti school subculture 
• Willis: the lads and earoles often had no career aims or goals…
