Aerobic & Anaerobic

Aerobic-With oxygen (Marathon)
Anaerobic-Without Oxygen (100m sprint)

Aerobic activities

-Are activities where you do not work maximally but you can for longer periods of time.
-The more energy means there is more oxygen present.
Aerobic respiration:
-Production of energy using oxygen
-For us to do physical work we need energy
-Energy comes from the food we eat.

Energy release equation

C6H12O6+602 gives 6CO2+6H2O+Energy

-Energy is released from respiration
-Glucose is needed
-Oxygen is needed
-CO2 is produced
-Water is produced

-Oxygen levels go down
-CO2 levels goes up
-Water vapour goes up

Anaerobic Respiration

- production of energy without using oxygen
-When level of exercise is too intense oxygen cannot be supplied quickly enough to release energy aerobically. Instead we release energy anaerobically, without oxygen.

- The reason we can only do this for a short period of time because of
