Act 1 Scene 1:Three Witches

Summary 

-Three witches meet in the middle of a strom and they speak in riddles and rhymes, using strange lamguage such as 'hurly-burly'.

-They are preparing to entice Macbeth and a sense of forebonding is ctreated by their choral lines that set up the theme of decepetion where 'Fair is foul,and foul is fair'.

Importance:

This scene is important because it immediately grabs our attention with its dramatic nonrealism and it raises our sense of couristy and expectancy. Also, establishes the importance of supernatural powers in the play.

Witchcrafft:

-Up until to the 1700's most people in England believed in witchcraft and witches. In the mid 1500s religious leaders tried to stamp out these beliefs.
