On the 20^th of January 1936, King Edward came to the throne, and his then mistress Mrs Simpson, due to Edward travelling around a lot, was often sighted on his many trips abroad. 
However Mrs Simpson’s marriage was becoming highly unstable due to both parties in the relationship taking a lover. Mrs and Mr Simpson’s marital problems became public knowledge resulting in the government speculating on the rapidly developing relationship between Edward and Mrs Simpson.
By the October of that year, Edward rented a house for Mrs Simpson, in which she then installed herself.

After which Stanley Baldwin ( the Priminister) confronted Edward and asked him to hide his relationship and keep it behind closed doors as it was not approved by the government.
The Simpsons then went to court and where granted…
