The Desktop Environment is a GUI, graphical user interface, which enables you to make changes based on your needs or preferences. You can change the following aspects of the deskstop environment:

  • adjust the size of windows if you need to see more on screen
  • change mouse settings such as the speed of the cursor onscreen
  • make icons larger if you're visually impaired.
  • change the screen resolution, or numbers of pixels to alter how vivid the picture looks
  • change the colour scheme if you suffer from colourblindness
  • decide what position on the screen you would prefer tool bars to appear
  • change graphics such as desktop wall papers
